Residential Brush Fire Upgraded to Working Commercial Fire
12:45, CCFD Brush Truck 1 and Engine 1 responded to the area of Bennett Road for a report of a residential grass fire. Fire Department personnel arrived on the scene to find a muti acre Brush Fire with mutiple exposures present. Fire command instructed personnel to immediately start extinguishing the brush fire near the exposed areas first. Due to the rapid changes in wind speed,direction and additional property involvement, Fire command Immediately Upgraded this incident to a fully working Commercial Fire with mutiple vehicles involved in a near by shop yard. A county all tone was initiated along with a Mutual Aid request for water supply due to the rural location of the incident. Firefighters remained on the scene approximately six hours before bringing this incident under control. CCFD would like to send a special “Thank You” to the following agencies for their prompt response for assistance: Pafford EMS, Clarksdale Fire Department, Bolivar County Fire Department & Quitman County Fire Department. As well as a local Agricultural pilot Lyle Malloy who assited us from the sky. *We would also like to say “Thank You” to our numerous Volunteers many who left their full-time time jobs, and responded to this incident. Firefighters from Bobo,Dublin,Lula,Friarspoint ,Jonestown& Rena Lara responded.
