Clarksdale, Mississippi – Yesterday on February 28, four determined students showcased their confidence and compassion as they vied for top positions on campus. Marquisha Clark from Tunica, MS, and Reginald Rodges II from Shaw, MS, proudly assumed their new titles as Mr. and Miss Coahoma Community College for the 2024-2025 academic year.

While only two contestants could be chosen, every contender impressed the crowd with their enthusiasm and charismatic charm. The highly anticipated pageant featured an array of categories including talent, lifestyle and fitness, evening wear, and on-stage questioning. Preceding the competition, each candidate underwent a private interview with a panel of six judges.

During the pageant’s introduction segment, each candidate provided insight into their background, hometown, and the potential impact they could make on the college if chosen as the next Mr. and Miss.

“I am grateful for the traditions upheld by Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCUs), and I aim to create a positive and enduring influence not only at Coahoma Community College but also within the HBCU community,” stated Clark, a social work major, as she competed against Jayla Booker, a Business Administration major from Lambert, MS.

“For me, Coahoma embodies legacy, and I believe I am deserving of the title of Mr. CCC because of my articulate nature, intelligence, and reliability. My goal is to leave behind a meaningful legacy,” said Rodges, an Athletic Training/Sports Medicine Major as he competed against Kordarius Hopkins, a Barbering major from Greenwood, MS.

During the talent segment, Clark showcased her skills with a baton twirling routine, and performed to the music of CCC’s own “Marching Maroon Typhoon’s” band tune “Torture”. Meanwhile, Rodges delivered a special rendition of “Can You Stand the Rain” by New Edition. After the talent showcase, the competition proceeded with the lifestyle segment, evening wear presentation, and a Q&A session.

While the pageant provided much entertainment, the judges diligently scored the contestants, and the tabulators calculated. Ultimately, a new Mr. and Miss CCC were crowned, marking the culmination of the evening’s events.

Marquisha Clark and Reginald Rodges II were crowned as the new Mr. and Miss CCC, taking their first walk in their newfound reign with pure excitement.

The newly crowned campus royalty will receive their official coronation during the scheduled ceremony on Thursday, April 18th at 6:00 PM in the Pinnacle.
