Clarksdale, Mississippi – In the heart of the Mississippi Delta, where students often face financial and academic challenges in pursuing higher education, a dedicated team of six educators is helping to change that narrative. With over 128 years of combined experience in education, Casandra Banks, Angela Davis, Angela Griffin, Rachel Hill, Rosalyn Griffin, and David Hill are committed to providing thirty local students each year with the tools necessary to excel on the ACT test.
For students in this rural community, scoring below the national average on standardized tests can make gaining admission to notable institutions seem like a distant dream. However, these coaches, all hailing from the Mississippi Delta and educated at Mississippi universities, are using their expertise to bridge that gap. Their collective teaching experience spans across Mississippi, Tennessee, Illinois, Arkansas, and southwest Texas, giving them a wealth of knowledge to help students succeed.
One of the standout educators, Angela Griffin, has witnessed firsthand the transformation of students who initially struggled with math, moving from below-standard scores to advanced levels under her guidance. Rachel Hill, another math powerhouse, has achieved 100% proficiency in her subject and boasts the highest LPS performance in the school district.
The team’s success doesn’t end with math. The other coaches bring impressive backgrounds in science, English, administration, counseling, and remedial education, providing students with well-rounded support. Together, they prepare students not only for the ACT but for the larger academic and personal challenges they may face on their journey to higher education.
