Health is Wealth Session Empowers Men in Hattiesburg, MS

Jackson, MS (October 8, 2024) On October 3, 2024, the Black Men’s Health Equity Council, in partnership with Mount Olive Baptist Church, hosted a successful men’s health information session in Hattiesburg, MS.  The Health is Wealth session drew over 20 attendees from the Forest County community. 

The session addressed critical health topics that impact men, such as the dangers of tobacco use and vaping, prostate cancer awareness, and mental health wellness. Attendees received valuable insights, resources, and actionable advice from expert speakers.  Those present were empowered to take steps toward improving their overall health and well-being.

The Black Men’s Health Equity Council is dedicated to advancing the health and well-being of Black men through education, advocacy, and community engagement. The Council works to address health disparities and ensure that men have access to the resources and support need to thrive.

The Institute for the Advancement of Minority Health was established in 2019 to reduce health disparities among disadvantaged and underserved minority populations in Mississippi through the development of collaborative partnerships with community stakeholders and the implementation of evidence-based public health interventions with a particular focus on health equity.
