Clarksdale, Mississippi – Elgton Jenkins, a proud native of Clarksdale and former standout at Clarksdale High School and Mississippi State University, is now in his seventh season in the NFL. With two Pro Bowl selections under his belt, Jenkins is turning his attention to something just as meaningful as football—giving back to his community through the Elgton Jenkins Impact Foundation.

In its first year, the foundation has already made significant contributions to the Clarksdale community. Jenkins has hosted a turkey giveaway, a bike and toy drive, and a free youth football camp. Another camp is planned for this summer, and Jenkins promises even more events are on the way.

“It feels good making a positive impact in kids’ lives,” Jenkins said. “It’s all about giving back. I’ve been truly blessed, so I want to give my blessings back.”

He also had a message for young people: “To any kid out there that wants to make it in sports or in life—you have to be respectful, do well in school, respect your elders, and treat people right.”

Reflecting on those who helped shape him, Jenkins shared, “A lot of people have had a big impact in my life, but my mom has always instilled in me to be the best person I can be. I want to thank all my former coaches from pee wee on up.”

He added, “I love seeing smiles on kids’ faces. With so much negativity going on today, we just always have to do what’s right.”

Jenkins also gave a special shout-out to The Clarksdale Advocate: “They always show love—not just to me, but to anything positive going on in the community. And I always want to thank ESPNTOM. He never lets me down. When I’m doing an event, he’s the first person there.”

One of Jenkins’ most recent events was held at McDonald’s in Clarksdale, where he personally handed out free meals during a drive-thru event from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

His mother, Delandra Jenkins, expressed her pride and hope for the foundation’s future. “I love the kids so much, and each year will get better and better—if it’s the Lord’s will,” she said.

With a heart as big as his talent, Elgton Jenkins continues to uplift his hometown—one event, one smile, and one act of kindness at a time.
