Friars Point, MS — Pushing Outstanding Excellence For Kids (POE4kids), a Tennessee/Mississippi-based nonprofit led by Clarksdale native, Mrs. Tiffany Reed Hill, board members Danielle Deberry, Cortez Hill, Daschunna Mallory Trey Ford and Kathryn Moore joined forces with the Friars Point Community Club, headed by Mr. Charles Nolan, to host a Drive-Through Backpack and Food Giveaway that served over 200 children in Friars Point, Mississippi.
On August 3, 2025, the event gave local youth school supplies, new backpacks, and lunches, with hot meals prepared by St. Mark Masonic Lodge and fresh produce distributed courtesy of But God Ministries, represented by Mr. Robert Miller. There was also an appearance by the Friars Point Mayor, Mr. Fair and Jonestown Mayor, Mr. Russell. The initiative stemmed from a community-rooted conversation between Friars Point Elementary School counselor Ms. Zaria Nolan and Mrs. Reed Hill, reflecting a shared vision for youth upliftment, youth efficacy and hunger relief in the region.
“This event was just the beginning,” said Mrs. Reed Hill. “We’re committed to building spaces that empower our youth, strengthen families, and bridge gaps in access from healthy food to educational resources.”
The collaborative effort marks the launch of a year-round initiative aimed at curbing youth violence, fostering community engagement, and addressing food insecurity in the Friars Point area. Additional programs and activities are planned throughout the year in Clarksdale and Friars Point, designed to bring sustainable impact and inspire collective action.
