Clarksdale, MS — The Clarksdale High School Wildcats continue to prove they are one of the most talented and underrated teams in the state as they advance to the third round of the MHSAA 4A playoffs. With explosive playmakers on both sides of the ball, Clarksdale is turning heads and dominating the stat sheets week after week.
Leading the offense is senior quarterback Tommie Magsby, who has racked up more than 1,000 rushing yards this season. Magsby boasts 90 carries for 1,013 yards, averaging an impressive 11.3 yards per carry, along with 20 rushing touchdowns.
The Wildcats’ run game is deep with skill and power. Three additional backs have played major roles in Clarksdale’s ground-and-pound success:
- #26 Braden Johnson (So., RB): 104 carries, 774 yards (7.4 ypc), 7 TDs
- #29 Omarion Perryman (Jr., RB): 116 carries, 744 yards (6.4 ypc), 6 TDs
- #13 Chris Thomas Jr. (Jr., RB): 46 carries, 408 yards (8.9 ypc), 4 TDs
On the defensive side, standout Marshawn Hawkins is coming off a dominant performance, recording 11 tackles and 4 sacks in last week’s playoff matchup.
Assistant Coach Tamera Allen praised the team’s resilience and determination heading into their biggest challenge yet.
“We’ve got a tough third-round challenge against the defending North Mississippi 4A State Champs at home,” Allen said. “Our kids are up for the challenge, though.”
The stage is now set for a major showdown as the CHS Wildcats host Louisville in the 3rd Round of the MHSAA 4A Playoffs tonight Friday, November 21.
With confidence high and momentum on their side, Clarksdale is ready to show once again why they belong among Mississippi’s best.
