Clarksdale, Mississippi – More than 250 families came together for Back-to-School Prayer in the Park, a powerful day of prayer, encouragement, and community support designed to spiritually cover students, parents, and educators as a new school year begins. Through corporate prayer and the distribution of school supplies, the gathering created an atmosphere of unity, faith, and hope for the next generation.
Hosted by two faith-based organizations—Missionary Scholars, Inc. and Youth on the Rise—the event blended practical support with spiritual care, ensuring families left both equipped and encouraged.
Missionary Scholars, Inc., founded by LaTonya Greer, was envisioned in 2017 and officially established in 2019. The organization is committed to empowering individuals and strengthening communities through education and service. Driven by a God-given vision to raise mission-minded and growth-driven leaders, Missionary Scholars provides mentorship, outreach, and development programs across the nation. With a focus on compassionate service and biblical growth, the organization invests in people of all ages, offering education, nourishment, and spiritual encouragement.
Founded in 2018 by Lillie Thomas, Youth on the Rise is dedicated to equipping and mentoring youth of all ages. The organization organizes monthly gatherings, outreach events, and spiritual development opportunities aimed at fostering transformation in young lives. Looking to the future, Youth on the Rise plans to expand its impact by offering hands-on mentorship, life skills training, and enhanced opportunities for spiritual growth.
Together, Missionary Scholars, Inc. and Youth on the Rise united to “pour back” into families, reminding the community that faith and preparation go hand in hand. By covering students in prayer and placing supplies directly into the hands of families, the event helped students step into the school year with confidence—grounded in faith, supported by community, and ready to rise in purpose.
