Clarksdale, MS — The Clarksdale and Coahoma Youth Outreach (CCYO) held its 13th annual Back-to-School Drive, continuing its long-standing tradition of supporting local families with much-needed school supplies and community care.

Led by Director Kendrick Travis, CCYO provided over 400 backpacks filled with school supplies to area youth. “I love seeing the smiles on the kids’ faces,” said Travis. “Some parents simply can’t afford supplies, so it’s a blessing to be able to do this.” Approximately 350 children received backpacks this year.

In addition to the school supply giveaway, attendees enjoyed free burgers, hot dogs, and water. Bryant Shaved Ice also joined in the community effort, handing out free snow cones to help families cool off during the summer heat. The Coahoma County Sheriff’s Department was on-site, giving away additional supplies and showing their support for the event.

Thanks to the collective effort of CCYO, local vendors, and law enforcement, this year’s drive once again demonstrated the power of community in lifting up local youth and ensuring they’re ready for a successful school year.
