As a Family Nurse Practitioner, she specializes in nephrology and is dedicated to educating her patients on the importance of maintaining healthy lifestyles. A graduate of Quitman County High School, Dr. Williams holds multiple degrees, including a Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Recognized as one of Mississippi’s Top 50 Leading Businesswomen, Dr. Williams credits her achievements to her strong faith and spiritual foundation.
Dr. Peggy Wells
Dr. Peggy Wells Howard is a Mississippi Delta native who has dedicated over 40 years to the healthcare field as a pediatrician. She made history as the first Black female to graduate from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. In 1978, Dr. Wells helped establish “The Children’s Clinic” in Clarksdale alongside Dr. Carole Mangrem, creating the first Black/White partnership practice in Mississippi. A devoted educator and community leader, Dr. Wells is also a founding member of the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).
