Clarksdale, MS — Charles Fair may be the newly elected mayor of Friars Point, but he’s no stranger to leadership or community service. With more than 50 years of experience helping youth and serving the town in various roles, Fair is stepping into the mayoral seat with humility, determination, and a deep love for his hometown.

“I don’t feel any different,” Fair said. “I’ve been doing this for 50 years—helping people. A title doesn’t mean much to me. I love Friars Point, and I want to make it a better place for my kids, grandkids, and the whole town.”

As mayor, Fair is focused on improving safety and access to everyday necessities. His top priorities include enhancing the town’s police presence, installing surveillance cameras, and bringing in a mini-market to serve the community.

“People shouldn’t have to travel far just to get something to eat,” Fair explained. He also plans to collaborate with the Coahoma County Sheriff’s Department to provide additional support and resources for the town.

Fair’s decision to run for mayor was driven by the progress he saw during his time as vice mayor—specifically, the successful approval of several grants for the town. With confidence in his knowledge and strong community connections, he felt ready to take on the leadership role.

“I knew I could get the job done,” he said. “It wasn’t a hard decision. I had all the confidence in the world.”

Fair’s journey hasn’t been without challenges. He openly shared that he didn’t finish high school after being expelled in his senior year. Still, he didn’t give up—instead, he earned his GED and worked his way up from the bottom to become a plant manager at Delta Wire.

A proud father and husband, Fair beams when talking about his family. “All my kids graduated from college with degrees,” he said. “I always taught them that you need an education to survive in this world. I have a beautiful wife who’s always had my back.”

Despite all his achievements, Fair says his greatest accomplishment is a personal one. “When God blessed me to be a man who could take care of his family—that’s my greatest accomplishment.”

Fair’s message to the people of Friars Point is simple but sincere: “I just want the town to know I will do my best to be the best mayor I can be.”

With decades of community service, a heart for the people, and a strong faith in God, Charles Fair is ready to lead Friars Point into a new chapter—one rooted in love, responsibility, and lasting impact.
