Clarksdale, MS – The Carnegie Public Library in Clarksdale hosted a festive “Christmas in July” celebration, inviting families and children to enjoy a day of fun, community, and holiday spirit—summertime style.

Event coordinator Josephine Rhymes shared the vision behind the celebration: “Clarksdale is a place to have fun and enjoy yourself. We thought if we brought Christmas in July to the library, it would help people see the great things happening here.”

Santa Claus, portrayed by Jerry Carter, brought holiday cheer to the children. Technical Services Librarian Tamara Spencer, who also serves as the Children’s Librarian, expressed gratitude to everyone who attended and encouraged the community to continue coming together for events like this one.

The event featured a variety of activities, including bingo, door prize giveaways, and two outdoor pool games. Kids lined up for free snow cones provided by Bryant Shaved Ice and temporary tattoos at a special kids’ tattoo station. Members of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. were also in attendance, helping foster a sense of community spirit.

The event was made possible thanks to generous sponsors: Aaron E. Henry Health Services, Crossroads Economic Partnership, the Coahoma County Board of Supervisors, and the City of Clarksdale.
