Clarksdale, Mississippi – The city of Clarksdale is set to host the first-ever Clarksdale Day, a community festival designed to honor and amplify the cultural roots, artistic spirit, and hometown pride of the Mississippi Delta. Scheduled for August 29–31, 2025, the three-day event will transform the city into a vibrant celebration of Delta heritage.
Organizers describe the event as a tribute to the people, music, food, and stories that have long defined Clarksdale’s cultural identity. “Clarksdale Day is more than a festival – it’s a tribute to the people, music, food, community and culture that defines this city,” said Dave Houston, founder and organizer of the event.
Situated at the iconic crossroads of Highways 49 and 61, Clarksdale is renowned as the cradle of the blues and a cultural epicenter of the Mississippi Delta. Known for its rich musical legacy, creative spirit, and enduring community resilience, Clarksdale continues to attract visitors from around the world seeking a taste of its soulful history.
This experience is designed for the people by the people. Festival-goers can expect a diverse lineup of activities and experiences, including:
- Live music performances, art exhibits, and a citywide parade
- A car show, featuring vintage and custom vehicles from across the Delta
- The “Walk the Blues, Run the Delta” 5K, a community race through historic streets and landmarks
- Food and cooking competitions, local chefs, and a variety of food vendors
- A Community Awards Show, recognizing local leaders and unsung heroes
- A Family Fun Kids Zone, complete with bounce houses, animal shows, and youth games
The celebration is being planned in partnership with the City of Clarksdale, local artists, businesses, and civic organizations. Organizers anticipate hundreds of participants from Clarksdale and surrounding communities to attend.
