Clarksdale, Mississippi – Clarksdale’s local heroes traded fire hoses for food boxes this past week as the city’s firemen teamed up with Extra Table and the Northwest Delta Community Foundation for a large-scale meal-packing event held at the Care Station. The effort resulted in a total of 30,000 meals packed for families facing food insecurity across the region.
The Care Station, a vital community resource in Clarksdale, directly received 600 of those meals, thanks to the hands-on support of the Clarksdale Fire Department and dozens of volunteers.
The event highlighted the power of collaboration between first responders, local nonprofits, and volunteers who came together with a shared goal—to make sure no table goes empty in the Mississippi Delta.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who rolled up their sleeves and made a difference. Your efforts will go a long way in providing comfort and nutrition to families who need it most.
