Coahoma Community College Health Sciences Division to Host Practical Nursing Pinning Ceremony

(Clarksdale, Mississippi) — Coahoma Community College (CCC) Health Sciences Division is excited to announce the upcoming Practical Nursing Pinning Ceremony, scheduled for Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. in the Pinnacle. This significant event celebrates the dedication and achievements of our practical nursing graduates as they embark on their professional journey in the healthcare field.

The ceremony will feature Dr. Deundra Hearne as the esteemed guest speaker. Dr. Hearne is a dedicated nursing professional with a solid educational background and a passion for nursing education and administration. She currently serves as the Director of the Registered Nurse Transition to Practice Nurse Residency Program at the Lt. Col. Luke Weathers Jr. VA Medical Center.

Dr. Hearne holds a PhD in nursing education and administration from William Carey University and has served as faculty in undergraduate and graduate-level nursing programs. Her dual certifications as a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) and Certified Academic Clinical Nurse Educator (CNEcl) underscore her commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring nursing students.

Beyond her educational and administrative roles, Dr. Hearne’s leadership skills are evident in her active participation in various leadership programs and initiatives. Notably, she is a graduate of the National League for Nursing Leadership Institute’s 2021 LEAD Program, which showcases her dedication to developing effective leadership skills within the nursing profession.

Dr. Hearne’s influence extends beyond her directorial duties. Her national-level presentations have focused on improving student performance and enhancing nursing doctoral education, inspiring and empowering future nurses. Her contributions have positively impacted the nursing community, fostering hope for a brighter future in nursing.
