The celebration of the Coahoma County High School boys’ basketball team’s Class 2A MHSAA State Championship win has been scheduled for April 29th. The Red Panthers, who have a remarkable record of 30-2, 10-0 in 2022-23, have won five state championships in the last seven seasons, making their victory even more impressive.

The championship parade will start at 1 p.m. on April 29th, beginning at the Coahoma County Jr./Sr. High School football field. The parade’s lineup is set to begin at 12:45 p.m. The parade will start 15 minutes later at 1 p.m. The route will start from the football field, turn right on Lee Drive, take a left on West Second Street, a right on Delta Avenue, and finally right at Nosef Park by the gazebo. Everyone is welcome to join the parade and show support for their favorite basketball player, cheerleader, or any other athlete.

After the parade, a cookout will be held at the Nosef Park gazebo, along with fun and games. Donations for the event are accepted. The City of Clarksdale is also planning to honor the state champion Red Panthers at the Nosef Park gazebo. According to Ward 3 Commissioner Willie Turner, “This will be geared toward the championship team, a parade will be involved, and a good, fun day and a good representation to represent the state championship.”

Mayor Chuck Espy also expressed his support for the team, saying, “The city will be participating in that so the action will occur at our board meeting.” Those who want to donate to the celebration may contact Thomas Williams at (662) 645-7123 or Andrea Williams at (662) 902-4559.
