A countywide focus group will meet at the Expo Center at 6 p.m. on July 6 in an effort to determine the direction of the 20-year comprehensive strategic plan for Coahoma County.
The Coahoma County Board of Supervisors recently hired Jacorius Liner of JLINE Enterprise to put together the comprehensive strategic plan.
“The purpose of the focus group in Coahoma County and the Mississippi Delta region is to gather valuable insights and perspectives from a select group of individuals who represent the diverse stakeholders within the community,” Liner said. “This includes residents, community leaders, business owners, and other key stakeholders who have a vested interest in the long-term strategic plan development. The focus group aims to explore and understand the unique challenges, aspirations, and needs specific to Coahoma County and the Mississippi Delta region.
“By engaging participants in open and interactive discussions, the focus group will provide a platform for community members to voice their opinions, share their experiences, and contribute to the development of a comprehensive and inclusive long-term strategic plan. The insights and feedback gathered from the focus group will help shape the strategic priorities, goals, and strategies of the plan, ensuring that it is tailored to address the specific needs and aspirations of the local community in Coahoma County and the Mississippi Delta region.”
Liner said the format of the focus group will involve a small group of participants from across Coahoma County who are brought together in a structured discussion led by the moderator.
“During the session, I will guide the discussion by asking a series of open-ended questions or presenting specific topics for discussion,” he said. “The participants will be encouraged to share their thoughts, opinions, and experiences related to the given topic. I will ensure that everyone has an opportunity to speak and actively encourage the participants to build upon each other’s ideas or provide differing perspectives.”
Liner said the focus group session will be audio and video recorded to accurately capture the participants’ responses and interactions. Note-taking will be used to record important points and observations made during the discussion.
Liner said everyone in Coahoma County is invited to participate, and the goal is to have 25 to 35 individuals present from a cross-sector of the county.
“I am just super excited about the opportunity to engage the populace in the county collaboratively around challenges and solutions that impact the region,” he said.
After the focus group meets on July 6, Liner will conduct interviews with the Board of Supervisors and business leaders across Coahoma County to continue collecting qualitative research.
