DARTS Community Transportation and Health Fair: Celebrating Our Unsung Heroes

Clarksdake, Mississippi – The DARTS Community Transportation and Health Fair is a much-anticipated event that brings together local vendors, community members, and dedicated transportation professionals to celebrate and honor the invaluable contributions of our transit drivers. This year’s fair was filled with informative exhibits, delicious food, engaging entertainment, and well-deserved recognition.

They were delighted to welcome Coahoma Electric, represented by Technician Roosevelt “Mickey” Johnson and Safety Engineer Richard Taylor. Their expertise and commitment to safety ensure that our community remains well-served and secure. Additionally, Headstart presented essential information and resources for early childhood education and development.

The Clarksdale Fire Department was also on-site, showcasing their lifesaving equipment and offering fire safety tips. Eddie Rays Food Truck provided a variety of mouth-watering dishes, ensuring attendees had a delicious experience throughout the event.

The fair began with a warm welcome from Joyce Liner, setting a positive tone for the day. Following, Willie Turner delivered a proclamation highlighting the importance of the event and the essential role of transportation in our community.

Antionette Grey, the Transit Director, spoke on the occasion, emphasizing the dedication and hard work of the transit drivers. Glen Scott, Operations Supervisor, presented recognition and awards to our outstanding drivers, acknowledging their commitment and service.

Calvin Glover, the Mobility Manager, extended vendor recognition by expressing gratitude for the support and collaboration that made this event possible.

The talented students of Creative Academy provided entertainment. They showcased their artistic skills and added a lively atmosphere to the fair. Their performances captivated and inspired all attendees.

The highlight of the event was the recognition of our transit drivers, who start their day as early as 2:30 a.m. and return home by 5:00 p.m. These unsung heroes ensure that our community stays connected by providing reliable transportation services day in and day out. Transportation Day is dedicated to honoring these individuals, celebrating their dedication, and acknowledging their crucial role in our daily lives.
