Clarksdale, MS – The Coahoma County High School (CCHS) girls basketball program is entering a new era with familiar leadership as Daryl Moore has been named the team’s new head coach. A 2007 graduate of CCHS and two-time state basketball champion, Moore brings years of experience, dedication, and family tradition to the role.

“It feels real good to be coach,” Moore said. “I have been around this program a long time with some great coaches—my brother and Coach Peterson. To be able to succeed those guys is an honor.”

Moore emphasized that the system and philosophy will remain the same. “Yes, the system will always remain the same. Me and my brother have been coaching a long time, so we think alike,” he said.

He also credited the school’s elementary program for strengthening the team’s foundation. “It has helped us out big. We don’t really have to start from the bottom teaching players how to play. Me and my brother have dedicated our whole lives to this program, so it’s going to be fun. The players have really been working hard to get better.”

Moore believes the Lady Red Panthers have a bright future, thanks to a promising young roster. “We have a good young core. We definitely have to work hard with a lot of teaching. It’s going to be some bumps and bruises, but we have a bright upside.”

Among the key players expected to lead this season are LaJeffrey Miller, who Moore says will be called upon to “do big things,” sophomore Jameshia George, and senior Mallorie Victory, along with several freshmen who will add depth to the squad.

When asked about his goals for the season, Moore was clear: “To win district and get a first-round home playoff game here.”

The timing, he said, worked out well for him to take the head coaching role. Still, the team faces challenges, including the loss of standout Dandy Dozen player Caitlin Hall. “We lost our Dandy Dozen Caitlin Hall, so we will have to work real hard together. She is a player that you can’t replace,” Moore noted.

Despite that, he sees this as a season of opportunity. “It’s going to take a lot of work, but we’re ready.”

With deep roots in the program and a clear vision for the future, Coach Moore is prepared to carry forward the legacy of CCHS girls basketball while carving out his own chapter of success.
