Clarksdale, MS – In an exciting Democratic run-off election, voters in Clarksdale have chosen their candidates for the upcoming general election. There were several close races, based on the unofficial results.
In the race for Mayor, Orlando Padon emerged victorious, securing 1,728 votes against Bubba O’Keefe, who garnered 1,271 votes. Padon’s leadership and policies have clearly resonated with a significant portion of the electorate, setting up a general election race against Scotty Meredith.
For Ward 1, Ray Sykes narrowly defeated Bo Plunk in a tight contest, claiming victory by just three votes, with a final unofficial tally of 413 to Plunk’s 410. The closeness of this race underscores the significance of each vote.
In Ward 3, Eddie Earl secured his candidacy with 339 votes, surpassing Willie Turner Jr., who received 267 votes.
Ward 4 saw Linda Downing defeat Kim Seals, securing 420 votes to Seals’ 304.
Additionally, in a decisive primary election, Jimmy Harris defeated Phillip Davis, further shaping the slate of candidates for Clarksdale. Harris will face Shannon Dixon in the general election.
