Abe’s BBQ teamed up with the Clarksdale Municipal School District to reward educators for their efforts. Monica Thomas, the parent liaison for the Clarksdale Municipal School District elementary schools, purchased gift cards and T-Shirts for five teachers from kindergarten through fourth grade. Coahoma County District 2 Supervisor Pat Davis, also the owner of Abe’s BBQ, assisted Thomas in her efforts.
Each teacher received a $20 gift card for Abe’s BBQ and a T-Shirt marking Abe’s BBQ’s 100th anniversary coming up on Jan. 1, 2024.
“She came in, telling me what was going on, giving awards to the teachers and some of the children,” said Davis about Thomas.
The gift cards and T-Shirts went to one first-year teacher, one teacher who needs encouragement, one male teacher, one teacher with the most years, and one teacher who had perfect attendance.
Davis was glad to be able to help reward teachers. “It’s wonderful,” he said. “I mean, we’re all one community. We all live here and support each other and do things we can. I’m just glad I could do it.”
