Clarksdale, Mississippi – On Saturday, June 8, 2025, the Mississippi/Arkansas Delta Chapter of the Aspen Young Leaders Fellowship (AYLF) will celebrate the completion of its 9-month seminar program with a meaningful graduation ceremony. The event will take place from 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. at 123 East 2nd Street in downtown Clarksdale.

More than a typical graduation, this gathering serves as a reunion for past, present, and future Aspen Young Leaders—a vibrant cross-generational celebration of growth, leadership, and continued mentorship. It also provides a powerful networking opportunity for fellows to connect with alumni, community partners, and one another as they prepare to embark on their next steps.

The Aspen Young Leaders Fellowship is a free, equity-focused program designed to empower youth through leadership development, mentorship, and career-building opportunities. Its mission is to equip young people with the tools and support they need to lead positive change in their communities and beyond.

One of the program’s inspiring success stories is Jaivian Hughes, who graduated from the Delta Chapter in 2022. When Jaivian first entered the program, he was unsure of his direction in life and overwhelmed by financial challenges. Through the guidance, structure, and encouragement provided by AYLF, he found his calling in culinary arts.

Today, Jaivian is not only a professional chef but also a recent graduate of an international culinary fellowship in Italy. When he’s back in the U.S., he runs a catering business and continues to stay involved with AYLF—most recently by catering this weekend’s graduation event.

“Jaivian is a testament to what happens when young people are supported, heard, and given opportunities to lead,” said Cheryl Green, Director of the Delta Chapter. “He’s one of many who have transformed their lives through this program—and who return to uplift others.”

As the Aspen Young Leaders Fellowship continues to invest in the region’s youth, events like this graduation shine a light on the lasting impact the program has on individuals and communities. Each fellow walks away with more than just a certificate—they gain a network, a purpose, and a renewed sense of possibility.
