Clarksdale, MS – On the evening of March 22, the Clarksdale Fire Department responded to a major fire that devastated two commercial properties in the heart of downtown.

According to reports from the department, Engine 1, Engine 3, Engine 4, and Truck 6 were dispatched to the scene after flames were spotted at the Delta Blue Alley Café. Upon arrival, firefighters found the structure fully engulfed in fire, with flames rapidly spreading to a neighboring building due to the type of construction.

Despite their swift response, the intense blaze proved difficult to contain at first and soon reached the old Delta Amusement site. Firefighters fought tirelessly to prevent further damage, but unfortunately, both buildings were ultimately lost to the flames.

Crews were able to bring the fire under control within a couple of hours and remained on site overnight to address lingering hotspots and ensure public safety.

The incident marks a significant loss for the downtown area, as both buildings were not only part of the local business community but also tied to the historical and cultural fabric of Clarksdale. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
