Clarksdale, Mississippi – Clarksdale High School’s own Floyd Williams has been named Mr. CHS, a title that reflects not only his dedication to his school but also his vision for its future. A senior at Clarksdale High, Floyd has spent his time at the school excelling both in and out of the classroom. With his easygoing yet determined attitude, he is set to leave a lasting impact.

When asked about his hobbies, Floyd points to a balanced life. He enjoys traveling, playing video games, and spending time with friends. Despite the busy schedule of a senior, he always makes room for these pastimes, which keep him grounded and connected.

But beyond these, Floyd has his eyes set on long-term goals. After graduating high school, he plans to attend college and pursue a career where he can rise to the ranks of company executive. He also hopes to give back by becoming a mentor, helping others succeed just as his role model, his grandfather, Floyd Williams Sr., has done for him. “My grandfather has always been someone I look up to,” Floyd shared, underscoring the deep respect and admiration he holds for his namesake.

As Mr. CHS, Floyd’s mission is to make the school a more inclusive, welcoming environment where no student feels left out. He’s committed to improving the school’s overall atmosphere by encouraging involvement and ensuring it’s a cleaner, safer place for all. “I want CHS to be a school where everyone feels included and valued,” he said. “It’s important to me that we work together to make our school community better.”

The path to becoming Mr. CHS wasn’t without its challenges. Campaigning for the title brought moments of uncertainty, as Floyd mentioned the thrill and stress of wondering if his opponent might outdo him. Yet, his drive and determination pushed him forward. His efforts paid off, and one of his greatest achievements at CHS is becoming a “test-free senior with early release,” a significant milestone for any student.

Floyd carries with him a life motto that speaks to his resilient character: “Charge it to the game and keep going.” For him, this means not allowing setbacks to hold him down. “Don’t sit there and let one loss tear you apart. Keep your head up and move forward,” he explains, words that echo his positive outlook and ability to persevere.

Floyd’s contributions to CHS extend well beyond his role as Mr. CHS. He is involved in various academic and extracurricular activities. As a member of the Beta Club, Book Club, and several national honor societies, Floyd represents academic excellence. He is also the CHS baseball manager, showcasing his commitment to teamwork and leadership on and off the field.

With his focus on fostering inclusivity and enhancing the CHS experience for all students, Floyd Williams is poised to leave an indelible mark on Clarksdale High School. His leadership, drive, and vision for the future make him a standout student and an exemplary Mr. CHS. The school community is eager to see what Floyd accomplishes next as he charges forward into his bright future.
