Friars Point, Ms – Friars Point Elementary School recently held a heartwarming back-to-school event that brought smiles and excitement to the community. Organized by Principal Chiquita Phillips, the event offered free haircuts to students, ensuring they could start the school year looking and feeling their best.
Principal Phillips, in her first year at Friars Point Elementary, has already made a significant impact. Coming from the West Bolivar School District, where she served as a lead teacher at Sherard Elementary, Phillips has brought her passion for education and community to her new role. She envisioned the back-to-school haircuts as a way to support parents financially and boost students’ confidence as they step into the new school year.
The event was a resounding success. Children eagerly lined up for their fresh haircuts, while parents expressed gratitude for the thoughtful initiative. Alongside the haircuts, prizes were given away, and delicious food was served, creating a festive and welcoming atmosphere for all attendees.
