Mound Bayou, MS — Dr. Tracey Morant Adams, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, South Eastern Regional Director, announced today that Chi Mu Omega Chapter member, Deanisha Hopson of Ridgeland, is one of 45 members in the region selected to participate in the Dr. Glenda Glover Leadership Institute Inaugural Cohort.
Dr. Adams stated, “The South Eastern Region salutes the phenomenal 45 young ladies who will participate in an engaging, interactive, and high impact leadership development experience.” “This program is designed to highlight the exceptional talent of our intergenerational community,” she further stated.
“Dr. Glenda Glover, the 30th president of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, is a remarkable leader who believes in empowering women to prosper and grow to their fullest potential,” stated Dr. Adams. According to Dr. Adams, the Glenda Glover Leadership Institute strives to elevate leadership and encourage young ladies to “Soar to Greater Heights of Service and Sisterhood.”
Annie Y. Griffin, president of Chi Mu Omega Chapter in Mound Bayou, stated, “We are so proud of Ms. Hopson for representing our chapter in the selection process for this historical leadership experience.” “Ms. Hopson is an attorney by profession, and we are certain that the leadership skills that she obtains in this seminar will greatly benefit our chapter and the sorority as a whole,” said Griffin.
Originally from Rosedale, Hopson is the daughter of Dean Epps of Ridgeland, Miss., who is also a member of Chi Mu Omega Chapter. Hopson stated that she received the Bachelor of Science degree from Mississippi University for Women in 2009, a Master’s degree in Social Science from Mississippi College in 2012, and the Juris Doctorate from Mississippi College School of Law in 2015. “I presently serve as the staff attorney for the Mississippi Veteran Affairs in Jackson,” said Hopson. “My responsibilities as staff attorney include supervising the contract process, assembling and keeping record of competitive bidding and managing all procurement activities in accordance with local, state and federal rules and regulations,” continued Hopson. “In addition to other duties, I also organize, prepare and draft requests, contracts and memorandums,” she stated. “In 2022, I began working as a professor for Fitchburg State University School of Business where I facilitate online courses; and, I am also a Business Law Sophia Grader,” stated Hopson. “I truly feel that my experiences in law, coupled with my leadership skills, were largely responsible for my selection into the Leadership Institute,” she said.

Chi Mu Omega Chapter was chartered on December 6, 2003, at the Lampton Street Church of Christ in Mound Bayou with 16 charter members hailing from Georgia, Tennessee and Mississippi. The chapter presently has 92 active members, the largest number in the history of the chapter. “In December, Chi Mu Omega Chapter will celebrate 20 years of sisterhood and service with an anniversary gala for the public’s enjoyment and in honor of the 16 charter members,” stated President Griffin.
