CLARKSDALE, MISSISSIPPI — The Mississippi Delta will be filled with the sounds of the season as singers from across the region come together for JOY! A Soulful Celebration of the Season. This free community concert is designed to lift spirits, strengthen connections, and bring neighbors together through music.
Featuring 60 vocalists from 19 churches and a 21-piece orchestra, the large-scale musical collaboration stands as a powerful expression of faith and community. Thanks to the generosity of donors at every level, admission is free and open to the public.
The concert will be held at the historic First Baptist Church of Clarksdale and will feature a rich blend of soulful gospel, beloved Christmas carols, and outstanding local talent. “This event is about more than melodies; it is about lifting spirits,” said Dr. Edwin Fox, choir director for the celebration. “At a time when many are seeking light and connection, this Christmas concert is our heartfelt offering to the community. We want everyone to leave humming their favorite carol and carrying the warmth of Christmas well beyond Sunday night.”
The concert will take place on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 115 Martin Luther King, Clarksdale, Mississippi. People throughout the Mississippi Delta, Mississippi and neighboring states are warmly invited to attend.
“First Baptist Church is honored to host this night of worship and celebration,” said Rev. Juan R. Self, pastor of First Baptist Church. “Our prayer is that this annual Christmas concert fills your heart with joy, renews your spirit, and draws you closer to the true meaning of the season.”
Event chairperson Emma Simpson added, “Everyone is welcome to JOY! A Soulful Celebration of the Season, whether you attend church every Sunday or it has been a while. Attendees are encouraged to bring family, seniors, friends, and their holiday spirit for a soulful evening of music and community.”
