Clarksdale, Mississippi – There was an abundance of love shown through potluck, pleasantries and presents, Saturday, December 28, 2024, as the women of Kings Temple met to show some sisterly love. First Lady Kandis Webb gave encouragement and led an exciting twist of Secret Santa with the ladies in waiting. The rules were simple: Pull a name, be a blessing throughout the year, show up to the brunch with a gift labeled with a clue. Names were pulled at the 2023 brunch. Sisters were encouraged to bless their unsuspecting sister throughout the year with small but meaningful happies such as a card, a note, a small piece of jewelry, sweets or just casual conversation. At the end of the calendar year the brunch is the culmination of a year-long wait to see who the secret sister is. Ladies piled gifts onto tables, clues were attached to reveal identities and eyes eagerly scanned the room in full anticipation of the revelation.
The Brunch was catered by the ladies of the church. In true Southern Baptist Church lady fashion, sisters were encouraged to bring their favorite breakfast dishes to add flavor to the potluck.The Secret Sister is the brainchild of First Lady Kandis Webb. She is the wife of King Temple’s Pastor Mark Webb. She is the mother of 3, an author, a vocalist, an influencer but her most important title is a strong woman of God. She has shared through her social media accounts her love for the ministry and how she favors coffee, conversations and creativity. She also expresses her passionate objectives to be more visible, vibrant and vocal. As a minister’s wife, there are unspoken restrictions that bind the wife and invisible factors that most traditional churches and older ministries hold dear. In retrospect, Sister Webb has hosted several events to celebrate the women of Kings Temple and the community.
The Secret Sister closes the year of 2024 and opens 2025 with a new and refreshed view of femininity and solidarity within the church. Spiritual support for the sisters in your circle is important for the life and longevity of the church. Kings Temple is located at 1402 Lyon Ave and its doors are open to the community. There is work to be done in our community and Kings Temple Missionary Baptist Church is committed to outreach & support for those open to receive.
