Clarksdale, Mississippi – Te’Kyah Turner, crowned as Miss Clarksdale High School (CHS), is a shining example of dedication, resilience, and leadership. With her sights set on a career in digital marketing and business, Te’Kyah’s journey to the title was marked by challenges, but with the unwavering support of her village, she emerged victorious.

Reflecting on the experience, Te’Kyah admits, “It was stressful running for Miss CHS. I had to deal with a lot of negativity. However, with the support of my village, I succeeded.” That village includes her role model, her mother Carolyn Mack-Turner, who she describes as “the strongest woman I know.” Carolyn’s compassion, strength, and commitment to helping others have profoundly influenced Te’Kyah’s approach to life.

“Being Miss CHS is about more than just the title,” Te’Kyah shares. “I plan to first represent my school with integrity. I want to be an example of the values that make our school the home that it is. Being Miss CHS is about being a positive, enthusiastic leader, a voice for everyone here, and a source of inspiration for those looking up to us.”

In addition to being Miss CHS, Te’Kyah has built a well-rounded resume. She serves as Co-Captain of the CHS cheer squad—a position she’s worked hard to achieve—and is an active member of Student Council, Beta Club, National Technical Honor Society, National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, and the National Honor Society of High School Scholars. She also holds a marketing internship with Griot Arts, Inc., further aligning her experiences with her future career goals.

But it’s not just academics and leadership where Te’Kyah excels. Outside of school, she is a creative soul who enjoys singing, dancing, painting, and crafting. “I love being creative with crafts,” she says, adding that she also enjoys reading, decorating, and listening to music.

A loving and kind-hearted individual, Te’Kyah is known for her radiant smile and positive attitude. She describes herself as “a God-fearing child that is deep in her faith,” attending Union Grove Baptist Church regularly. Her faith, family, and friends remain central to her life, and she’s always ready to uplift others, no matter the circumstances.

As Te’Kyah continues her journey as Miss CHS, she is committed to making a positive impact both in her school and beyond. Her passion for leadership, creative spirit, and deep sense of integrity will undoubtedly leave a lasting mark on the CHS community.
