Clarksdale, Miss. – The Mighty Roots Festival celebrated its fifth year with a weekend of live music, family fun, and community spirit at historic Stovall Farms. Founded in Greenville and now firmly rooted in Stovall, the festival has become one of the Delta’s most anticipated annual gatherings, drawing visitors from near and far.
Festival organizer Howard Stovall once again brought the magic of music and Mississippi heritage together. Performances took place on the Cotton Gin Stage and at the Old Stovall Store, where the sounds of blues, rock, and Delta soul echoed through the countryside.
This year’s lineup featured several crowd favorites, including Ax and the Hatchmen, a rock band out of Chicago, and the Crooked Diehl Band. Among the attendees was Spencer Wright, who traveled all the way from Santa Fe, New Mexico, to experience the festival firsthand.
The weekend was about more than just music. Families enjoyed pony rides and bounce houses for the kids, while CARES Animal Shelter offered an adoption event featuring dogs looking for forever homes. Outdoor enthusiasts took part in a gravel bike ride stretching from Friars Point to Stovall, adding an adventurous touch to the festivities.
A highlight of the weekend was the annual Burning of the Guitar, a symbolic tradition that began when the festival moved to Stovall. As midnight struck on Saturday, the flames lit the Delta sky, marking another successful year of Mighty Roots magic.
With all 37 camping spots fully booked, the festival once again proved its growing popularity among music lovers and families alike.
As Howard Stovall continues to build on the legacy of music and community, the Mighty Roots Festival stands as a shining example of what makes the Mississippi Delta such a unique and soulful place to gather, celebrate, and play.
