National Night Out Unites Sunflower Lane with Community Support

Clarksdale, Mississippi – Sunflower Lane hosted a successful National Night Out event, organized by Social Services Coordinator Brandon McAfee. The event was designed to promote community engagement, safety, and awareness, drawing residents, local leaders, and various organizations to offer resources and support.

Ward 3 Commissioner Willie Turner and Ward 4 Commissioner Jesse Harris attended, showing their commitment to strengthening the community. A voter registration booth was set up, allowing residents to register and participate in future elections, while the CCC GED Skill Tech Center provided information on educational opportunities for those seeking to improve their skills.

The Clarksdale Fire Department and North Sunflower Medical Center were present, offering health and safety services, and Molina Healthcare provided additional healthcare resources to attendees. Faith-based organizations, such as Day Spring Prayer Chapel and Lord of Glory Mission Station, were also on hand to provide spiritual support and guidance.

Residents were treated to free food, clothing, and shoes, ensuring that everyone could benefit from the event. Dominos gave away free pizza, and CVS delighted families with an ice cream truck. Local organizations, such as Kalpa Alpha and Omega, added to the event’s success by contributing to the overall sense of unity and service.

The event was more than a simple gathering. It was a moment for the Sunflower Lane community to come together, receive essential resources, and strengthen their bonds with one another.
