Clarksdale, Miss. – Jan. 22, 2025 – The Sasse Street Community Wealth-Building Initiative is excited to announce the launch of two key surveys aimed at understanding the needs and priorities of the neighborhood. These surveys, part of a larger effort to create plan to promote economic growth and opportunity in the Sasse Street community, will run from Jan. 22 to Feb. 5, 2025.
Adult Community Needs Survey
The adult survey seeks to gather input on housing, employment, health, and other important topics. Residents can take the survey online at https://form.jotform.com/250204976702051. Participants who complete the survey will also have the opportunity to enter a drawing for a $25 gift card as a thank-you for their time. The goal is to receive at least 100 responses to ensure the community’s voice is well-represented.
Youth Financial Education and Future Planning Survey
The youth survey will be administered through schools and youth-serving organizations, focusing on how students think about money, their financial education, and their aspirations after high school. This effort will provide invaluable insights into how we can better support the next generation.
More Than Surveys
In addition to the surveys, the Sasse Street Community Wealth-Building Initiative will host focus groups and community meetings in the coming weeks to dive deeper into the ideas and feedback shared by residents. These events will provide opportunities for residents to engage directly with coalition leaders and influence the programs and services designed to meet the community’s needs.
Why It Matters
“This initiative is about listening to the people who live and work in the Sasse Street community,” said Aurelia Jones-Taylor, CEO of the Aaron E. Henry Community Health Services Center, one of the community organizations leading the effort. “We want to create programs and opportunities that reflect the real needs and aspirations of our neighbors. These surveys are just the beginning of building a stronger, economically thriving community.”
The initiative is made possible through a grant from Walton Family Foundation.
How to Participate
- Adult Survey: Complete the online survey at https://form.jotform.com/250204976702051 by February 5.
- Youth Survey: Schools and youth organizations will provide access to the youth survey for eligible participants.
