Clarksdale, MS – A new voice in the local art scene is beginning to emerge—bold, passionate, and full of promise. Her name is Amya Moore, and this year, she captured first place in one of the Juke Joint Festival art competition, marking the beginning of an artistic journey she once doubted was even possible.

For Amya, art wasn’t always about recognition. It was personal. It was a challenge. And at times, it was a battle within herself. “I wanted to compete with my sister, Alexis Moore,” Amya shares. “I always believed she had more talent than me. I just wanted to feel like I had something she couldn’t do—and that was art.”

Since the fifth grade, Amya has been entering competitions, constantly pushing herself to grow. Even with daily practice and years of dedication, she admits she never felt quite good enough. But that changed the moment she saw her artwork acknowledged on a larger stage.

“Now that I actually sit and watch my art be acknowledged, I’m proud to say—I did it,” she beams.

What makes her win even more remarkable is that Amya only started painting a week before the competition. “I’m not good with it yet,” she humbly says, “but hopefully I’ll get there soon.”

Amya’s story is one of perseverance, quiet confidence, and the power of believing in your own voice. Her victory at the Juke Joint Festival isn’t just about a trophy—it’s about self-growth, sisterly inspiration, and proving to herself that her creativity is just as valid, beautiful, and impactful as anyone else’s.

As she continues to expand her reach and sell her artwork, Amya hopes to connect with more people who appreciate art that comes from the heart. You can follow her journey and support her work on Instagram at Simply._.Amya and on Facebook under her name, Amya Moore.

One thing’s for sure: this is just the beginning for Amya—and we can’t wait to see where her creativity takes her next.
