FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Clarksdale, Mississippi – Aaron E. Henry Community Health Services Center will celebrate one of its long-term physicians in a special celebration to be held in his honor on Friday, June 28 at the Clarksdale clinic at 800 Ohio Ave.  The 19th Annual “Dr. William Booker Day” will be held to not only show appreciation for the physician who has been with the agency for 39 years, but it will also allow the general public to shower him with due praise and thanks for the service he has provided the communities he serves.   This year’s celebration will also serve as a dedication and renaming of the Clarksdale clinic in his honor.  Dr. Booker, a native of Tallahatchie County, has always felt the need and desire to give something back to the Mississippi Delta that nurtured him.   Dr. Booker serves as the clinical coordinator of the Clarksdale clinic.

“We are proud and honored to be able to recognize Dr. Booker on this one special day,” says Aurelia Jones-Taylor, CEO of AEH.  “Dr. Booker is such an instrumental member of our AEH team, that one day hardly seems sufficient.  It is only fitting that our Board of Directors has chosen to rename and dedicate our Clarksdale clinic in his honor.”

After graduating from the University of Iowa, Dr. Booker completed his residency at Broadlawns Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.  He began his career at AEH in 1985 and has seen the organization move and expand numerous times, growing to cover several Delta counties and employ over 150 employees.

“Aaron Henry is just a part of who I am,” says Booker.  “I don’t feel like I’m just treating patients after all these years.  I feel as if I’m treating family members.  That’s why quality care is so important to me.  You always do the best by your family.”

On tap for the Friday celebration are activities and inflatables for children, food trucks, free food for the public, music, vendors, clinic tours, and the renaming ceremony at 11:00 a.m.  The general public is invited to join in on this celebration from 10 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. on June 28 on the lawn of the Clarksdale clinic at 800 Ohio Ave.  In conjunction with the celebration for Booker will be MAGnet Day.  MAGnet stands for Mississippi Access Group Network, which is comprised of the 5 community health centers in the state seeking to improve the health status for all Mississippians through integrated health.  This event will offer COVID screenings, blood pressure checks, glucose screenings, and rapid A1C screenings.    Also on hand will be Mississippi Blood Services to take donations.  Each donor will receive a free t-shirt and a $15 Visa card.  For more information on Dr. Booker Day or MAGnet Day, call 662-624-4292.
