Can you tell me what woman most inspires you?
Mrs. Josephine Rhymes is a big inspiration for me. She has been benefiting her community for years and continues to be a great role model for the young generation.
Tell me more about your goals after you graduate from Clarksdale High School in May?
My goal is to become a registered nurse with my bachelor’s in science. I also want to get my license as a nail technician.
Who is your favorite teacher at Clarksdale High School?
My favorite teacher is Elizabeth Gibbons. She is my AP English teacher and has been teaching me for two years. She strives to help her students inside and outside of the classroom.
What has been your favorite high school milestone?
My favorite milestone was winning Miss Clarksdale High School. Having that title was one of my long-term goals and it was a very emotional moment for me when I was elected. Being Miss CHS is more than a title and is another way of me having leadership within my school and community. Another milestone is continuing to have strong business doing nails while also being a successful senior in high school.
Can you share with our readers what your favorite quote is?
My favorite quote is by former First Lady Michelle Obama, she once stated
“Instead of letting your hardships and failures discourage or exhaust you, let them inspire you. Let them make you even hungrier to succeed.”
Can you share a special message with the youth in the community?
My advice is to stay focused and keep your priorities straight. Be slow to speak but quick to listen. Always put your work and needs first so that you will be prepared and won’t have any worries later in life. And never ever give up on your dreams.
What are your plans after graduation?
After graduation, I plan on enrolling in Coahoma Community College to pursue my Practical Nursing License and then I will transfer to the University of Mississippi to study for my bachelor of science. I want to be a blessing to my community through my nursing career.
