The fourth year of the Downtown Clarksdale Farmers Market began with three tables on Thursday night. The Farmers Market is located at Collective Seed, 145 Delta Ave., and starts at 5:30 p.m. every Thursday. John and Ann Farmer had one table, while Joey Young and Maggie Powell each had their own table. Bread, dip, zucchini, cucumber, and squash were among the foods sold on Thursday.

“It’s small, but it doesn’t have to be big to be successful,” said Ann Williams, the owner of Collective Seed. “I think it means a lot to people to be able to get together and buy local produce.”

The Downtown Clarksdale Farmers Market has not missed a year since Williams started it four years ago, even continuing through the COVID pandemic. “My logo was the tomato wearing a mask,” Williams recalled.

Williams encourages the community to participate in the downtown Farmers Market. Vendors can start setting up at around 5 p.m. on Thursdays, just 30 minutes before opening for customers.

Anyone interested in participating may email Williams for an application at hi@collective-seed.com. She mentioned that applications should be filled out a day in advance.

Williams expressed that the Downtown Clarksdale Farmers Market will continue as long as vendors and customers continue to show up. “I just want the community to know how important it is to support our local growers,” she said.
