Clarksdale, MS – November 2, 2024, The Coahoma County Expo Center was alive with joy and unity on November 2, 2024, as it hosted the Higher Purpose Co. Festival. The gates opened at 10 a.m., welcoming an enthusiastic crowd eager to experience a day of festivities.
Music lovers and families gathered for a celebration of community, healing melodies, and soulful rhythms. Festivalgoers could explore dozens of vendor booths offering gifts, goods, information, and health screenings. Each guest received a complimentary meal voucher to use at any food truck of their choice, along with a $10 Rootswell Farmers Market voucher, highlighting the festival’s commitment to supporting local farmers and entrepreneurs.
Chief Creative Officer Ivory Cancer shared the inspiration behind Higher Purpose Co.: “Our goal was to celebrate the community’s cultural richness and ensure these experiences are accessible to everyone, regardless of economic background. This festival, with its diverse lineup and inclusive spirit, is a testament to our efforts to create space for all to gather and build a stronger community. We hope this festival will become a tradition that strengthens the cultural fabric of Clarksdale and Mississippi for years to come.”
The celebration kicked off with a heartfelt performance by the Coahoma Community College Choir, known for their vibrant harmonies and warm Southern sound. Grammy-winning gospel artist Le’Andria Johnson delivered a powerful performance, her dynamic voice and emotional delivery setting the tone for a memorable morning.
Throughout the day, the entertainment lineup featured intimate and engaging performances from both local and international talents. Soulful sensations such as Tweet, KeKe Wyatt, and TA Thomas took the stage, performing a mix of classic and contemporary hits that had hundreds of guests swaying as the sun set. The Glen David Andrews Band and Cuz Band added a unique New Orleans flair to the mix, enriching the festival with varied musical experiences. Emerging artist Ariel J also showcased her talent, adding excitement to the festival’s atmosphere.
For families, the Children’s Zone offered games like tag, face painting, and full-size tic-tac-toe, making the event enjoyable for all ages. Organizers encouraged families to come out and share in the community spirit, music, and joy.
