(Clarksdale, Mississippi) – Mary Suggs, a dedicated resident of Jonestown, MS, proudly announces her graduation from the prestigious Mississippi Community College Leadership Academy (MCCLA). The graduation ceremony, presided over by Dr. Mark E. Keenum, President of Mississippi State University, was held at the Mississippi State University Stennis Institute of Government on the Mississippi State University Campus on May 6, 2024. This remarkable event shows a significant milestone in Suggs’ professional journey.
Selected as a representative of Coahoma Community College for the class of 2024, Suggs’s participation in the MCCLA underscores her commitment to excellence in leadership within the Mississippi community college system.
Introduced by the Mississippi Community College Foundation in the spring of 2009, the MCCLA addresses the growing demand for skilled leaders in the community college landscape. This intensive program equips administrative employees with the necessary skills and expertise to excel in upper-level leadership roles.
Mrs. Suggs was nominated by her supervisor, Steven Jossell, Executive Director of the Workforce Development Center, to partake in this year-long program. Throughout the duration of the MCCLA, Mrs. Suggs honed her supervisory, management, and leadership abilities through immersive workshops tailored to her current work environment.
With an impressive tenure of 21 years at Coahoma Community College, Suggs has contributed significantly in various capacities, including as an Evening Cosmetology Instructor and a Data Input Manager with the ABE program. Since 2019, she has excelled in her role as a Project Coordinator/Administrative Assistant in the Workforce Development area.
A distinguished alumna of Coahoma Community College, Mrs. Suggs holds two Associate of Arts degrees. She furthered her education at Mississippi Valley State University, where she earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Business Administration.
In addition to her academic and professional accomplishments, Mrs. Suggs is an entrepreneur, operating a successful small business in Jonestown, MS.
Mrs. Suggs’ graduation from the MCCLA signifies not only her personal achievement but also her unwavering dedication to leadership excellence within her community and the broader educational landscape.
