FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Jackson, MS (November 7, 2024)—The Institute for the Advancement of Minority Health will host its Inaugural Teen Health Summit at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Tougaloo College. This one-day event, designed and led by local teens, will feature workshops, interactive sessions, and discussions tailored to support the well-being of today’s youth. The summit will conclude with a Sneaker Ball.
With the theme Breaking the Silence on Teen Health, the Teen Health Summit is free and open to teens ages 13-19. Scholars from the Jackson Public School District served on the planning team and provided invaluable insight to help shape the event’s agenda. Key topics include body image, social media safety, emotional health, relationship boundaries, and physical fitness. Lunch will be provided. Security and chaperones will be on-site throughout the day.
The Institute for the Advancement of Minority Health believes that a healthy community starts with healthy youth. This summit is designed to equip teens with essential knowledge and skills to build lifelong healthy habits—habits that will, over time, help reduce the health disparities affecting communities across Mississippi.
Sponsorship opportunities are available for community members or business leaders interested in empowering Metro-area youth by supporting the Teen Health Summit. For more details on registration or sponsorship, visit www.minority-institute.org/events.
