Clarksdale, Mississippi – On June 22, 2024, the community witnessed a heartwarming scene along the highway. Members of Walmart, the Sheriff Department, the Fire Department, and the Divine Nine came together in a remarkable show of unity and compassion to collect donations for Lebonheur Children’s Hospital.

Lebonheur Children’s Hospital is a renowned nonprofit institution, celebrated for its cutting-edge technology, dedicated staff, and steadfast commitment to the health and well-being of children across the nation. The hospital has earned a sterling reputation for providing top-notch care and support to young patients and their families, making it a worthy cause for this fundraising effort.

Joe Matthews, the manager of the local Walmart store, played a pivotal role in this charitable event. Amidst collecting donations, Matthews shared, “This is one of our targeted nonprofits. We do this once a year around this time across all Walmart stores. The goal is to raise about $10,000. We are calling on all Greek organizations and individuals to stop by and give their donation to Children’s Miracles Network.”

The involvement of the Divine Nine, a collective of historically African American Greek-letter organizations, underscored the event’s communal spirit. Their participation, along with that of the local authorities and Walmart staff, highlighted a shared dedication to improving the lives of children in need.

For those interested in contributing to this noble cause, donations can be made during checkout at Walmart or dropped off at the Customer Service desk. Every contribution, big or small, plays a crucial role in supporting the vital services provided by Lebonheur Children’s Hospital.
