Clarksdale, Mississippi – This month marks the one-year anniversary of New Wave Studio, a thriving barbershop in Clarksdale, MS, owned by Joshua, the youngest shop owner in the city. As a professional barber with seven years of experience, Joshua has turned his vision into reality by providing much-needed services to the community through his shop.

New Wave Studio stands out not only for its specialization in haircuts, dreadlocks, braids, and wigs but also for its additional offerings, including massages and facials. Joshua’s goal has always been to bring something fresh and necessary to Clarksdale’s barbershop scene, and his one-year milestone is a testament to that success.

“My business is built off of great character, respect, and love,” says Joshua. “We respect and show love to our clients daily while maintaining our work ethic and craft.” This dedication to his customers and the community at large is what keeps his shop growing and evolving.

Joshua’s long-term goals extend beyond his current success. He aims to open multiple shops, achieve financial freedom, and continue providing for his family and community. His journey hasn’t been without its challenges, but he’s carried with him a piece of advice from his professor, Mr. Nunley: “Josh, there isn’t enough barbers in the world.” It’s a statement that continues to motivate him as he pushes forward.

As New Wave Studio celebrates this milestone, Joshua expresses gratitude for the unwavering support he has received from both locals and those outside Clarksdale. “The best advice I can give is to start, stay focused, and be ready to face adversity. The barbering game is changing, but the need for great barbers will always remain.”

With a foundation of respect, character, and community, Joshua and New Wave Studio are carving out a lasting legacy in Clarksdale’s barbering industry—one cut at a time.
